Beyond Culturally Relevant Education: Moving Forward
This course focuses on exploring intersectionality, diversity, inclusivity, and funds of knowledge theory. This course requires educators to examine classroom power structures, focus on the celebration of student identity and diversity, and develop an inclusive methodologies through the funds of knowledge theory.
Examining the Deficit Model
This course examines the historical impact of deficit thinking on education policy and practice. This course explores the implications deficit thinking continues to have on racial inequalities within education as well as educator perspectives of students. This course requires educators to identify racial biases and practices and explore anti-racist practices, methodologies, and curriculum.
